The back of the medal features a profile portrait of a Pope surrounded by a Latin and Italian inscription: "RELIQUIA DI S. PIO X" (Italian): Translates to "Relic of Saint Pius X." Pope Pius X (born Giuseppe Sarto) reigned from 1903 until his death in 1914 and was canonized as a saint in 1954. "EX INDUMENTIS" (Latin): Translates literally to "from the clothing." ### The Relic Type The small, square piece of woven white fabric visible through the glass window on the front is a piece of cloth cut from a garment worn by Pope Pius X (likely his white papal cassock or zucchetto).
